I was wondering if NFL referees only referee, or if they tend to hold other jobs as well. Anybody know how they came to become referees?

yea they have other jobs...the nfl has been contemplating for years trying to decide if nfl referees should be full time employees....

Yes they all work at other jobs. Most are administrators in schools. Apply after refereeing high school and college games and rated (hypothetically) on merit

Oh, no, you would not BELIEVE the MILLIONS of dollars, plus perks, those guys get from the NFL!

^hell yes they should, then they can put their attention to getting calls right for a change ---seriously, did they forget that you place the ball where it is fair caught? (reference to saints game)
