When you drain water out of the tub there is tension on the water and surfaces of the pipe. This tension creates a seal (albiet a moving one) as the water drains down the pipe. Once that seal breaks you get a small back flow of air into the pipe which also echos. This is most likely what you are hearing. I hope that helps.

Gurgling drains is a sign of a venting problem.
Either add venting or remove the obstruction.

I'll bet it's either a cloged vent pipe or the lack of one.

Each month, flush a box of "Rid-X" (or something similar) down your toilet. You can get it at any hardware store, home center, or discount store.
