wire and other illegal sites people are happy to reccommend advice?

The CD question I posted may have the odd suggestion of illegal downloading but people gave them thumbs down.

I searched "limewire" in the search box and got 576 results, and only a small amount are about not using it or how to uninstall.

Don't you realise that illegal downloads also play a part in CDs being more expensive? Plus more and more people are having action taken against them now.

So why are the two any different?

Yeah, but people who sort out all the copyright for downloads have to be paid and the people who are now tracking down these people also need to be paid.

You're absolutely right. There is no difference in law. Anyone not downloading from a site which holds a valid license from RIAA (or equivalent) or the artist is breaking the law and subject to the same penalties.

But when you steal from a store, you are taking away from the store, the employees, the delivery guy, the corporate store, and the manufacturer of the CD. When you download, you only steal from the artist, and to a lesser extent, the label. But I think the popularity of the legal downloading shows people do want to legally buy the music, they just don't want to pay $20 for a god damn 35 minutes of music. Before, your only choice was to pay a lot for a CD. Now you can download the album for in many cases less then $10. Or you can get certain songs for less then $1. This gives people the choice they didn't have before.

1)Stealing a CD is easy to understand - you took it without paying for it from a store, ect

2)Sites like Limewire advertise as legal. Some even charge fees for some of their services or offer premium packets or per song
deals. How do you know what you are paying for? So people are led to believe they are paying for the use of the music they are downloading.

They ASSUME - a nasty word that makes an ASSof UandME.

My advise to my children has been, get your music at the store and leave downloads alone.
