I have recently surrendered my life to God and am discovering things about Christianity and the Bible. This year, instead of dressing up for Halloween, all I would like to do is hand out candy to the kids. Is that against the Bible/Christianiy values? Thanks!

Spiritual belief is personal, it comes from within. You can look for guidance from others, but you're then seeking it from people whose motives are questionable. (The recent clergy/sex scandals have shown that even asking someone in a church is no guarantee that you're asking the right person.) Also, when you ask others, they will give you all kinds of answers -- how can you choose which is right?

Search your own feelings based on what you understand of your religion, and act accordingly. Know, also, that you may change your mind later, and decide that your prior actions were not right, and change your future choices. This is the only sane, stable way to make tangible decisions about something that has no trustworthy tangible component. (Some might say "the Bible" is a tangible component, but which Bible? Which language, after how many translations?)

To share my own personal choice, without the intent to sway your decision, I would say simply that I will be participating fully in the trick-or-treating tradition. This choice comes from a strong and growing understanding that religion itself is trickery for the sake of imposing control on people, and "God" (or whatever spiritual notion people latch onto) does not exist.

OK,it's not a christian holiday,it's more like a national custom. But I don't think celebrating Halloween is bad as it's part of your culture and traditions.I don't think God will mind;)And besides if you start thinking this way there are many other holidays that are considered to be christian, but they are not - believe it or not Easter is a good example. The tradition of painting on eggs comes from ancient Babylon.Nowadays Persians (for those who don't know, they are muslim) celebrate the first day of Spring by painting eggs. Many other non-christian nations have this tradition too.And besides who can say for sure when Jesus Christ died? And in the Bible there is nothing written about painting eggs!As for Christmass, who can say for sure when Jesus was born? And besides if you read the Bible you will see everywhere that the holy day of the week is Saturday, not Sunday.Sunday was the holy day of the pagans who believed in the God of Sun.
Anyway this shouldn't prevent anybody from celebrating the holydays they are used to,because they are part of the national culture and traditions and part of the spirits you were raised in.Besides it's great fun ;)

How ought to absolutely everyone be attentive to? The Bible would not point out Halloween. yet you're able to desire to think of: what's so undesirable approximately Halloween? in case you get inebriated and severe and attempt to do magic, then for sure it extremely is "against God" yet once you're merely trick or treating then it extremely is not undesirable. despite the fact that, Halloween has a depressing previous. It became a tremendously unwell holiday for some pagans some time past interior the day. the classic Halloween that we've's no longer undesirable in accordance to the Bible, no. using fact it extremely is not something like the previous pagan holiday, and not something approximately that's "sinful".

You're handing out candy to little children who are dressed up in costumes. If someone has a problem with that, then I think that they should remember the fun that they had going trick or treating as a child and think if at anytime during all those years that they went trick or treating did anyone indoctrinate them into Satan worship, were they warped religiously or mentally because of begging for candy? No they were not, they are just trying to show what a good christian they are by denying their children the innocent joy of trick or treating.

I don't think so. If you look back at the history, Halloween started as All Hallow's Eve to celebrate the saints who have gone before us. Nov. 1 is All Saints' Day.

I have always taken my kids out for trick or treating, but we never dressed up in gory or evil costumes.

If you just want to hand out treats, that would be fine though, too.

Halloween is actually a religious holiday... November 1st is considered All Saints' Day, and thus the night before is All Hallow's Eve, or the eve of All Saints' Day.

The purpose of the costumes was to drive away the evil spirits so that All Saits' Day could be held in peace.

So go ahead and celebrate! You can use the Holiday to spread cheer and righteousness to children in your neighborhood with a clear conscience! :)

Best of luck!

No its not. Its called propraganda. Where as all religion is derived from a paganism.

You have your opinion whether or not to participate in it or not. You don't have to dress up or give out candy.

I just like to dress up and give candy away... actually i liked it when i was little better...'FREE CANDY YAY"

What you should know though is halloween is actually called SAMHAIM which is pronounced sow-in, which is respect for the dead the ones who have left us.

no. Candace Cameron (of Full House) is a Christian and she doesn't decorate her house with the Halloween Theme . However, she does let her kids dress up in Halloween costumes. You can do it like her.

No, it isn't! Our church always does something for the kids on Halloween. It is just like everything else, it's only evil if you make it that way. You can choose to let it be something fun and lighthearted and just enjoy seeing all the kids in their costumes!!

As long as you are not harming others physically, mentally or emotionally there is no harm to dress up and celebrate Halloween.
