The ones at my work think its disgusting but surely its more dusgusting to leave all that poo inside your body. Some others say they might catch diseases from the seat. Just how bad do they think theyre colleagues arses are anyway?!

Get a clue... women don't poo, fart, belch, pee or anything else unattractive. They bottle it all up inside, and then once a month they become total mega-bitches, and you dont' wanna know what comes out of em at that point.

Maybe not where YOU work, but certainly at the company I am at...
Women generally don't have the same choices as men when it comes to bathrooms (though if you have a close female friend as her about the whole concept of "hovering") as men can stand for urination while women have a bit harder time with this process.
I will tell you that I tend to do this process far less at work - primarily because of the fact that the men in our office don't lift the seats and end-up either splashing or urinating all over the seat, and I really don't want to have to clean-up that mess just to use the toilet.
I think an equally interesting question is who keeps a cleaner bathroom - men or women? Women I speak to say that THEY are the worst, though my experiences would say otherwise...

Don't listen to them. WHile I dont see relevance to your question (haha), I will tel you that girls do poop. And yes we poop at work sometimes. The fact is that there are more germs on a door handle than there are on a toilet seat. SO the whole bit about catching diseases is false. Sure there is a REMOTE possibility, but they should be more worried about using the computer or phone because there are 100's of thousands more germs on those surfaces than a toilet seat. I think women are also self cautious about bodily functions. I know I dont talk about it openly with my co-workers. But that is another reason why men and women are different.
So the answer to your question is most women do go poo in the bathrooms at work. And yes not ALL women do, but there are guys out there who also have PUblic Bathroom phobias.

I dont know if it is necessarily that they get diseases from the seat,. it's just an easy way out excuse for them to use so that they don't have to explain what they might really think. Truth is, excrement can smell pretty horribly, and if another co-worker uses the bathroom and smells it, the rumor mill could get started, or there can be uncomfortable situations because of it that they dont want to have to endure every day in the job. If they are around people every day, having to live down a smelly bathroom break might be a huge issue. A lot of people, including me, hate to use public bathrooms.

Oh trust me women poo at work and in other public toilets. My lady friend was telling me about how women explode in the public toilets, do poos so massive it blocks the plumbing and leave toilets half full of poo and just walk out and don't flush.

it's not so much that we don't. some of us women just won't admit to it. it's become "socially inacceptable" for a woman to do such a thing. society accepts men to poo and pass gas. but a woman is different. society doesn't really look at women the same way. these things are considered to be dirty and disgusting especially to talk about. face it society as a whole see women in general as delicate and cleaner. also women don't want other women to come in and smell it and tell everyone how bad they smell. not that everyone doesn't smell, but ppl are cruel these days and they'll do anything for a laugh. i personally could care less. if i have to use the bathroom, i'm going to go. of course i know a girl who lives close by to her job. she'll wait till her breaks to go home and do it.

I guess 'cos some of them are a little squeamish, about it.
My daughter works in a mixed office and prefers not to at work.
I've tried the economic argument, and the practical one, and the health one. Nothing works. She just feels safer cleaner more in control at home. I wish she would change. You should try having to wait 120mins for a P when you're desperate! I can't get that concept into her her head iether. Sigh!

As a maintenance engineer believe me they do poo at work and boy does it smell just like ours.
Tell them to go to the loo and stop being so full of sh1t

ha, i used to have a regular everyday at work! I think that those chicks are ah little to full of themselves, whats better than some free toliet paper and top this... getting paid to poo! ah ha

Because it's harder to squat over a dirty loo seat for ages to do a poo than it is to do just a wee :p
