Some people are just too stupid. It's those stupid people that have problems voting, and to be honest we should really be thankful they didn't get to vote.
You hit the nail on the head; You are responsible to register yourself to vote. You're also responsible for knowing if you need to bring a drivers license or state-issued id card to vote. And you are also responsible for knowing the voting laws of your state; a provisional ballot must be issued upon request at any polling place. The Registrar of Voters will then take that provisional ballot, investigate if you were legally registered to vote, and then call you to find out why the provisional was cast. In my case I'm registered permanent absentee and the postal service failed to deliver my ballot.
Oh... it's also your responsibility to read the damn instructions at the polling place so you know how to correctly vote for the person you wish to vote for. FloriDUH was one prime example of stupid people failing to read instructions. Lastly, if you are confused about how to vote, or aren't sure if you voted for Joe Shmoe, either ask a poll worker, or rip up the ballot and go home. The poll workers are there to help in any way they can, and if you still can't get that you don't deserve to vote.

Well, my husband and I moved to a new state just before the last elections. We both registered at the same place at the same time. When it was time to vote, I called to find out where to go vote. When we got there, they told us that we were at the wrong place and had to go somewhere else which was like right by our house, little itty bitty place. Needless to say, hubby didn't get to vote, they said that he never registered even though I did receive in the mail the little note card they send stating you've registered to vote.

I don't know about the rest of the country, but in NYC, there are procedures in place to make sure a person can vote even if his/her name is not listed. First, we are notified individually of oue Election District and Assembly district. But if you show up at the polling place and your name is not in the book, first the inspector will verify which ED/AD you belong to according to your address. Then, if your name still is not listed, you can complete a paper ballot which will be collected and counted once it can be verified that you are registered.

NO..it's not hard, it's just some would rather sit around and gripe, cuss and complain rather than stand up to make a difference. Where and when you vote is easy, call the local voter registration office they will tell you, however, if you've moved, then that's where the problems start. Even local news channels offer the numbers to call for voter locals. So if the complainer doesn't vote, 'Shame on them', they have no justification to complain when they didn't do anything to make a change.

You have a point, but it doesn't mean that there aren't problems going on. There are a lot of ways people, who should be allowed to vote, aren't allowed to from no fault of their own.
here is a really good info page about Florida elections. It's kinda long, but good info.

First of all no voting is not too difficult. Voting intelligently, well that might be a challenge.
Secondly, the details in your question are more of a tirade than part of the question. Lighten up.

There are really very few problems, but again sensationalism sales and that is what the media is in business to do at the present time. Reporting actual news is not of interest to them.

No, It really isn't that bad. As long as you are a U.S. citizen, and don't have a bad background, then you should not have too many problems. Though that does depend on what precient (busy, not busy) you visit.
