Unfortunately the negative campaign ads work for the many who don't bother to read newspapers or magazines e.g. Time, Newsweek, etc., or watch debates or political shows.
Once a week, my newspaper highlights how our senators and reps voted on issues before them in congress; it's very informative.
I just hope that the people who don't bother to educate themselves about the issues are the ones who stay home on voting day.

Negative campaigning is all part of the "game". If a candidate does not point out the other's "flaws" then a bad candidate could be voted in. I do not support the negative campaigning in any way, shape, or form....but I do understand it.

I am sick and tired of ads bashing each other. I would like to see the candidates not only approve an ad, but actually appear in it telling me exactly where they stand and being honest about their voting records on the issues that matter the most to me. In IL, the Republican committee has approved ads that have lied about Democrats and their positions. Mellissa Bean almost lost my vote when I got a mailer that lied about her position on immigration. Luckily, the press called them on the lies and people are starting to see how corrupted the Republicans are here. Still, Mellissa needs to speak for herself and tell us all exactly where she stands.

Do you have the guts to vote against your candidate for doing it. Tell them you did maybe you can solve the issue.

I sure am, it is to the point that I change the channel when commercials come on. I am also tried to the blatant ads, the ones that you know are false. What are they thinking when they design these?

Until they stop working, they will continue to air. Everyone always says they don't like them, but the politicians know what works.
