well seeing as how a smurf is already blue...but a medium type of blue...even a smurf will turn bluer...and then purple. Its not nice to choke smurfs. Well...maybe vanity or jokey if he plays a really bad joke on you. But instead of choking a smurf how about having it clean those hard to reach places? or get something stuck out of the drain, or put him in the toilet jacuzzi! just make sure to tie a string on him so he doesnt get flushed.

Okay, this is a complex question deserving a complex answer.
Let's assume that Smurfs are the polar opposite, colour-wise, from humans - since we turn blue when choking, and they are already blue.
1. Why we turn blue
Choking means you can't breathe, which means oxygen is not reaching your blood. Because blood (without oxygen in it) is naturally blue (it's only red when it has oxygen), choking will result in a blue appearance, rather than a rosy or pink one.
2. Why Smurfs don't
Since Smurfs appear blue, it follows that the actual colour of their blood is red, which means they would turn reddish when choking.
There are a lot of factors and assumptions here that could prove me wrong, but I think my theory is otherwise quite solid, if only using light-skinned examples from both species.
Best of luck and happy Smurf-choking!

Gray. The absence of color is a shade.

Last time I did this I didn't notice any perceivable colour change, but just a small wimpering sound.
