I'm doing a project on Trench Warfare, and I'm kind of limited to the amount of information I can put in. I also have to write it all myself, summarise and what not. Do you have any ideas on what information and pictures/diagrams I can use?

I've already done a search, and I've come up with loads, like diseases they had, and medical help, weapons, basic equipment, rats, the dead, the actual trenches, deserters...

You see? I must choose. I can hold a maximum of 5 topics, in addition to the army (recruitments, underage soldiers, medics), countries (Allies/Central Powers), and Map of Western Front.

As with any type of warfare, intelligence is the most vital of all assets. Having an informed idea of when and where the enemy will attack.
Trench warfare in WWI was a messy, grisly and horrible business: just as all war is.
Defensive armaments- machine gun emplacements with inter-locking fields of fire that covered all likely avenues of approach that the enemy may use: this includes mines and razor-wire.
Sufficient food and water and medical personnel.
Ample supplies of ammo and equipment and operable lines of communication connecting the field commanders and those leading from the rear.

Trench warefare was used not just in WWI but also in the Civil war and during sieges. This was made no longer a viable solution during WWII as demostrated by Blitzkrieg warefare. The trenches were a way to hide from artillery and hold onto the land. It is slow and a war of attirtion where both sides would slowly grind down their resources.

Speaking from experience there is nothing in the world more important than courage and instinct. You do not have time to think or be afraid. You have to turn off the part of your mind that thinks and just react. It is the most primal moment in one's life.
