Probably the person is using that as a defense mechanism to keep his ego and pride. High school drop outs are, for the most part, are headed for low paying, minimum wage jobs that require little or no skill. It has to be a feeling of being trapped and unable to move forward.

I've never met someone who was proud to have dropped out of high school. Although, I am sure that teenagers who just recently dropped out are proud of their actions. Fortunately, they will find out later in life what an idiotic choice they made.

If he/she insists on bragging about it, oh well, I feel ok because that's one more potential competitor out of the job market pool. I've known people who dropped out of school but don't feel good about it at all, and I believe these people will eventually find a way to survive and succeed because trying to make a living without an education doesn't leave you with a lot of good options. Rich kids who drop out of school and brag about it to the less privileged because they know they'll get their parents big bucks, can go sc__w themselves.

I know alot of people who have dropped out of high school, but none of them are proud of it. In fact, they all regret it deeply.
I would feel pity for someone who is proud of it because it shows that they have no intention of making a life for themselves.

I never have. Most of them tell me they made a mistake. I guess u can say to them, "Copngratulations, Its good to see that ur happy with the decision u made, and Im glad ur life is going in the direction u want, but statisticly, most drop outs are not financially stable, and to most people financial stability is important. So for the most part, its best to stay in school"

I feel that, in about five or ten years - when that person has a dead-end job, a family, no means to properly support them, and no time to work on a GED - I'd be as sorry as they are for being a such an arrogant know-it-all . . .

I feel sad for them. They dont seem to realize they short-changed themselves.

I believe no matter what you do in life, take advantage of every educational advancement chance you get.
