There's no way for them to be certain, And I'm sure that SOMEONE, somewhere has tried suing a nurse/doctor for making a wrong guess about the sex of a baby, So that probably explains why they use the term 'It is most likely a girl' or something vague like that...
Both of my ultrasounds with my boys, Showed FOR SURE that they were boys, This time, I'm having a girl, and the lady said 'I think it's a girl'...I got my 2nd ultrasound, And the Dr. said the same thing...
I think it's safe to go ahead and start buying girl stuff, Worst case scenario...It IS a boy, Just keep your receipts and go back and exchange the stuff. :-) Or buy gender neutral clothing, Like greens, yellows...etc! :-)
Best of luck!

when a doctor views an ultrasound he/she can tell the gender of the baby by looking for a penis. if a penis is visible then it is a boy. if a penis is not visible then the baby by omission must be a girl. the only way the doc knows the baby is a girl is by absence of the penis. that is why you can be positive you have a boy but you are only "most likely" having a girl.
it is entirely possible to make a mistake. have you seen the ultrasound? they aren't exactly kodak quality. you just have to have faith that the doc is good and keep all receipts. you're lucky to have had three ultrasounds so you've had a third verification. most moms only get one notice. imagine how unsure they must feel about their baby's gender.
i had an ultrasound once a week for the last three months and still didn't know the gender until the actual birth. be grateful that you have more preparations than many of us.

maybe buy the pink stuff since its so darn cute but keep the tags on and save the receipts just in case?
How far along are you? I hear most techs don't like to give an answer on baby's gender until 22 weeks or so because its so difficult to tell before then. If you've had three u/s since 22 weeks, and they think its a girl, I would trust it. Besides, they have a 50-50 chance of being correct anyway!

Well ultrasounds are usually very accurate, but they are saying THINK so would wait on buying pink. I also had three ultrasounds with my first son and all three times they told me that they were 90% certain I was having a girl....like I said, my first SON! Good luck and congrats!
PS> It was a major pain in the hiney to take all that pink stuff back, though I would reccomend buying a few things pink for the baby, I would mostly buy neutral colors for now.

If you're wanting to buy clothes, I would stick with white, and yellow. Thsoe can go either way. Also, I know of several people who because of the baby's position were told it was a girl and it was not. Also, it may be expensive but if you can afford to go to one of those places that dose a 3-D or even a 4-D ultrasound they will be able to devote enough time to be able to locate what is or isn't down there.

You should buy everything that would be suitable for both genders, because what if it really does turn out to be a boy then you will have alot of girl cloths and you will have to return all the pink and white. Save your self the trouble and buy neutral cloths, this way you will have fun and not stress your self out on it later when your baby gets here. Trust me you won't have to stress your self wheather your making the right decision on the colours that you are buying your baby.

Depends on how far along you are when the u/s is done. If they were all mainly before 20 weeks, I'd stay off buying pink. Also, unless they saw female genitalia, or if all they said is they didn't see boy parts, I'd hold off buying pink.
Basically, if they saw girl parts AFTER 20weeks, it's safe to go with pink!

Buy gender neuteral things untill the baby is born since they weren't sure it's a girl or buy pink things but make sure you can exchange them if it's a boy. Good luck.
