Without discussing how a musician/singer/rapper's lifestyle or behavior influences youth's life, music definitely have influences (including bad) on youth.
Words in lyrics definitely have a suggestive effect on listeners, especially listening repeatedly. It's the same thing on why parents tend not to use foul languages in front of children. Listener's temper and behavior would possibly be affected as well.
Furthermore, loud music would damage listener's hearing in long term. Some youth like to turn music way up even though they don't have hearing disabilities.
So, music a bad influence is a yes. Good influence? Yes too. But at this point, people are more concerning about the bad influences.

Not all music is a bad influence. Listening to music can certainly lift the spirit which is exactly what some of the people who have answered this question should try! And as far as the music artists having a bad effect...... MY GOD!!! The music artists of the sixties and seventies were far more outrageous and naughty!

no I don't think music is a bad influence its how the parents deal with there behavior on the music or listening to a certain type of music
And as for the piercings have you ever thought that the celeb saw it on some one normal and then got it done?
Its not music games or any of that it is about common sense I grew up in the projects with fighting guns and everything. violent music and games but my mother taught me right from wrong so i knew that is was not okay to do that stuff even if i saw it on TV.
I think that bad parents are just looking for an excuse to blame there bad parenting skills

Take heart. It wasn't much different when I was your age about 55 YEARS ago. I grew up in an atmosphere that included a piano teacher for a mother and an Uncle who played clarinet in both a Symphony orchestra and a Philharmonic orchestra.. so I was surrounded by classical music.. I could sing the librettos from several different operas by the time I as 8 and had to learn English as a second language to my native French. I WAS CONSIDERED WEIRD because I preferred classical music and Opera to the popular music of the day.. at least that is why I THINK they considered me weird. Don't worry about trying to raise the "CLASS" of the people around you... they are just a bunch of punters... so you can only make yourself happy

Absolutely NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! most bands have a good influence!!!! they get us through the bad times and help us enjoy the good times even more!!! and most of all they make us realise how dumb we are being and help us to turn our lives around a bit!!!
Music itself is not a bad influence, but the habits of the people in the music business is a bad influence!

Music does have some effect.. Yet its still is the Youth's decision. For me i love all that hip/hop R&B stuff.. but jsut because it says .. "imma beat that.." or "smoke it up.." doesn't mean i'm going to go out and do that. Most Youth todiai listen to the music b/c of the beat; not what the words say.
Another example, "chicken noodle soup.." is the most weridest song.. but most of the youth like it b/c of the beat and not b/c of the lyrics.

no, i think its just an excuse the parents make when their children do bad things instead of taking responsibitly that they have a fault in the way their children are raised, because what kind of parent can you be if music is raising your children and showing them the ways of the world and not you. its entertainment thats it. Superman, Batman all entertainment and you do not see children jumping off the roof cause they think they can fly like superman because children know its not reality, well niether is music so why blame musicians when your child screws up?

Yes - because the lyrics of many of the songs, and the images on some pop music videos make certain behaviours seem attractive to the susceptible young e.g. violence, easy sex,
provocative clothing and behaviour etc. I wish the celebrities who can influence young people would recognise and act upon the power they have for good.

Pffff, no. I listen to songs about murder, rape and mutilation all the time and it doesn't make me want to go out and do those things. Music/movies/video games only influence those who already have a violent predisposition.
