I'm struggling not to feel permanently "down" after a bad bust-up with someone who is the love of my life (I'm not young and have been round the block a few times so I know that she's the one for me). How can I keep cheerful while I wait to see if I can persuade her to forgive me - I know it could take a VERY long time. At the moment I often give way to self pity. Please help if you can.

Go out. Be social. Lean on your friends for emotional support. That's what friends are for. Keep up with your hobbies. Don't let a bad break-up stop you from enjoying life. Not only will you feel better, your girl will see how strong willed you are.

Listen a breakup sometimes gives two people a chance to breathe so thats what you need to do to...take time and just get out of the house ..movie a walk the gym a friend get a dog if it was a bad time then give it a few more days and try again all you can do is TRY AGAIN......you love her she loves you...take it slow and buy her 2 dozen red roses send them to her with a card saying SORRY PLEASE CALL ME......be patient when she calls just tell her I LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU...let her talk......keep letting her talk............if it comes to being resolved while on the phone..tell her you are making reservations for dinner and you will pick her up in an hour .......good luck miia

If you are sure she is the love of your life, you need to fight for her! What did you do that needs forgiving? Is it a forgivable offense? If you feel it is, you need to express your love to her everyday until she comes back. Do not give up!

Take up a new hobby or something. Go out with another girl. There are more out there.

Spend time with friends, do things you've wanted to do but haven't, try something new. Good luck!

As seasoned as you believe you are, I don't think that she was the one for you. If she was, the break up would not have happened.

You're just one step closer to "the one."
