I wouldnt say insane. Im sure the people of Romania would highly object to that since he IS a National Hero who fought against an overwhelming force that sought to conquer his country as well as all the countries around it. You might call it resorting to terror tactics. Nailing the hats to man who wouldnt remove them in his presence. Well that should would raise some eyebrows wouldnt it? It says, SHOW SOME DANG RESPECT WHEN YOU COME INTO MY COURT! Impaling hundreds of thousands of the enemy and then dining under neath then. WELLL! that says a LOT TO! Insane? who knows! How would you feel is you had to wrestle the throne from your own brother who became a whore (or should i say bed slave) for a sultan!? Lost everything! Vlad the Impaler can be identified with anybody who fights against losing odds. But as a vampire! Blame allllllllllllllllllll that on Bram Stoker!

I sometimes think of him as being insane. Anyone who would kill people just to kill them as got to be sick. He ordered the executions, most of them by impalement of hundred of people. I do not think he actually drank anybody's blood, but I often forget things like that.

i believe he was a ruler in what is now romania, famed for impaling his enemies alive on the tops of large sharp spikes, they dies slowly as thier own body weight made them slip down the spike, very gory... some think brahm stoker used ideas about him when writing dracula
