My 2 week old likes to sleep and sometimes sleeps past the recommended 3 hour feeding schedule. When she does wake up, of course she is hungry and gulps down the bottle and ends up making herself sick. What are your opinons on actually waking the baby up to feed her, or should I just let her sleep and wake up on her own?

Let them sleep....unless she is getting close to the next feeding time. Also, if she is gulping it down, you might want to try pulling out the bottle and burping her about halfway through the feed. This will give her stomach a chance to relax and hopefully she won't get as sick.
You might want to wake her if it has been about 4 hours or so since her last feed. This way, she will (more or less) be getting the calories that she is needing each day.
She might not like being woke, so just take your cues from her. She will always let you know what she wants, needs, likes, or does not like. And just as you get her on a solid routine, she will change the routine on you. Babies are good at that!!
Have fun and good luck!
I hope this helps!

Also, if she is spitting up a lot after she eats, you might want to change bottles. I had 3 babies with reflux or GERD. They spit up all the time. I ended up using the Playtex Airvent bottles. They ended up less gassy because they swallowed less air.

We found if we woke up our son (even now that he's a year old) that he tends to get REALLY fussy and cranky and won't even want to eat. Our son was also colicky for the first two months, and wouldn't sleep that much unless he was in my arms. Try to slow her feeding down a bit... that might help with her getting sick. Take time to burp her- with her being 2 weeks, I think we burped every 1/2 oz around that age. If she takes in too much at once, take the bottle out for a second, let her breathe, and then let her have it- I tried doing that too-it seemed to work.... without getting them mad- so don't keep it out too long. :) Hope some of this helps. She'll get more into a routine in the next couple of months. And the older she gets, the more she'll eat when she goes through growth spurts, which also might satisfy her and let her sleep longer. goodluck!

Bottle fed babies often go 4 hours between feedings. My philosophy has always been never wake a sleeping baby. Your baby seems to have all the appropriate drives to eat so I wouldn't worry she will get enough. However it is okay to make her pause while eating so she doesn't choke herself. A good burping about half way through should keep her from getting sick.

Let her wake on her on, but do not give er whole bottle and see if that works first. If she still becomes sick, talk to her pediatrician about trying a different formula. It may be her formula.

Let her sleep. For your sanity as much as hers. I agree with the previous poster that said try to give her less and take a break instead of all at once.

i would let her sleeo. the doctor told me as long as she is not sleeping pass 6 hrs then she is fine. for that problem i would just give her a bottle but i would like let her drink a little bit and take it out for like a breather then i would keep doing that.
