Georgie Porgie has a selective memory when it comes to
baseball history. The BlueJays repeated in 1993, the Big
Red Machine won two back to back World Series in 1975 and
1976, which was preceded by the A's winning three consecutive World Series. The Cardinals had the best regular season record
in 2004 and 2005, so they definitely have a shot at it, but it will
be very difficult to do with the parity in baseball.

Well of course it is unlikely since it is so unpredictable, but yeah, they can.
The formula is not a great regular season team. The idea is to cruise into postseason hot and with two or 3 really solid pitchers. In 05 and 04 they obliterated the NL with no ring to show for it. They were offensive juggernauts (like the Mets this year) that you just can't rely on for postseason. Add to that their experience and you have the reason why they clobbered the tigers.
I think the Central willstay weak and theCards could get in again with 90 wins or so. Keep in mind Izzy blew 10 saves, which accounted for 10 losses we normally wouldn't have.
I keep expecting Pujols to have a down year, and Edmonds may be kaput. If we peg our hopes to Wilson and Encarnacion, god help us! Don't underestimate the power of the catcher YADI YADI!

There has been parity in baseball lately, and it's great for the game if you ask me.
I can't really predict the Cards will repeat yet cos we don't know who's coming back and who's leaving and who we picked up in the offseason. We could have a very different looking team.
But, with Carpenter, Pujols, Rolen and La Russa in the mix again for sure, I think they can sure as heck compete for it.

The Cardinals will have a hard time getting in the playoffs next year. The Reds will be better, Houston won't have another underachieving year. As far as the World Series, no chance for either of the teams in it this year. Both will fail to make the playoffs.

They will make it. It will be the same team with the exception of Edmonds (?). Our pitching staff will be healthy making them all that much more powerful. We won without much help from Big Al. Imagine if he was on fire through the World Series... They played great as a team and will do the same next year.

They're not going to win their division, let alone the World Series. For the ninth years in a row, a different (new) team is going to win the World Series. Brewer fan voting the Mets to win it all next year.
