The fact that a person that plays a game for a living makes more than a firefighter, cop, nurse, doctor, paramedic, etc.

You can't really put all the blame on the athletes, even though they are spoiled brats today. The game is all about money now. When an average athlete makes more than the President of the United States, that's society saying, "We want to be entertained and we'll pay anything for it." Owners and athletes know this, so they take advantage. How can a professional baseball team charge $9.00 to drink a beer at a game or $5.00 for one hot dog? Notice, they won't allow you to bring in your own food. They would never make any profit.
The entertainment attracts the fans, but it's the actual skill that pays the players. There have been many clowns in professional sports that relied on childish antics that may have gotten them paid initially, but it never lasted long if they didn't have the skills. T.O. should realize he's not making any more money by acting like a spoiled brat. He should let his play speak for itself, like Marvin Harrison or Torry Holt. As for Ocho Cinco, I have to say I love his enthusiasm. He displays alot of antics on the field and in the locker room, but the difference is, his team respects him, his opponents respect him, he never talks about money, and he just has fun playing the game and giving the fans what they want...entertainment for their money.

I totally agree with you about the teamwork thing. Chad Johnson and TO may not even know what their teams record is, but they sure know what dance they did after a touchdown. If you notice, teams like the Bears, the Patriots, The Broncos and the Colts all have good teams. You do not really see these kind of attitudes on these teams. Something to think about.

The media is to blame. They want to cover the athlete's who perform for the camera's like T.O. and Chad Johnson. These are non-stories as far as I am concerned. They act like they are still in high school.

I generally agree, but luckily there are still gracious, hard-working atheletes. Unfortunately the flakes get most of the attention.
I think you see more team players in hockey than other sports. Maybe it's the nature of the game, or maybe I am biased.

OVERPAID AND OVERRATED! They are playing a game, not saving the world.
Granted, they do work hard and it takes a lot of skill, but why don't we cut their salaries in half (they'd still bring home a couple million) and give the other half to some people who really need and deserve it - like teachers, nurses, counselors, etc.

How they are all about me,me,me. They don't care about other players on the same team. As long as they are being paid too much money and they can do what they want.
and they think because they are pro's everyone should bow down to them and they think that because they are soo good that they can get away with anything.

Perhaps I'm not answering your question, but I don't like that the Olympics were supposed to be for amateur athletes, but so many endorsed professional ones get in there.
