Simply the fact that you'd ask a question like that strengthens my respect for what we do.

We'll assume that your talking about America - but regardless of what ever country you're reffering to, anyone who risks thier life to protect others is worthy of respect.

Now, there are some who fail to maintain that respect and mess up the hard work of the rest of us.

Just - please keep this in mind...

I dont respect them atall. Ive worked in Education for 15 years now, witnessing 10,s of, maybe hundreds of verbal, emotional and violent assaults on staff. From kitchen staff to secretaries, from S.S.A's to the Head. Not one of these assaults was instigated by staff. The pupils involved, not one bit remorseful or worried about their actions. The police never took it seriously and often advised staff that it wasnt worth the trouble. But as soon as a member of staff challenged these yobs, or intervened during a fight, it would be them facing prosecution. Often on unfounded charges that have no chance standing up in court. Maybe im being cynical, but I beleive the police are running scared of the yobs too.

You have to earn respect and to earn it you have to do your job properly, honestly and to a high standard.
Based on my experience of the police and how they dont do their jobs properly, they lie to you and say they will attened an incidet and dont bother
No I have no respect for the police

its the ones with the attitudes that let the ok ones down. i do think that they could handle alot of situations better rather than deliberately provoking an unnecessary situation.
