The easiest way to do this is to multiply the denominator of the fraction by the integer and add the numerator. Then you put that result over the existing denominator.
I.E
2 ½
2*2=4,
4+1=5, then put it over the denominator which is 2
therefore 5/2 = 2½....

Take the denominator times the whole number and add it to the numerator. The denominator always remains the same.

EG:
3 1/2= (2x3)+1= 7/2
