I want to recycle milk cartons. The recycling facility near me doesn't take them. The ones that do are more than a 2 hour's drive from me. I thought I could mail them but they said, "We don't take garbage through the mail." I don't see how this is garbage! I think they are more concerned about following procedure than they are about protecting nature.

I think that we should work to save the millions of healty trees that are cut down every year to make paper. The best solution is right in front of us- to recycle the paper we already have.

What am I supposed to do? I live in Detroit, Michigan & the facility that takes them is in Saginaw. Should I drive all the way up there just to deliver 60 milk cartons & then if I get there late, sleep in my car? Maybe I should just continue to save them up for another year until I get the opportunity to go to Saginaw for a vacation? LOL! That would be a hygeine problem & although they're clean, would invite mice.

Ahhhh!

Your concern for nature & the environment is admirable, but I'm a bit confused, if you are so concerned, then a road trip to rectify the issue shouldn't be an issue.
Seems to me all you have to do is get in your car and drive.

i have an idea about the milk cartons. I did wanna mention though, that if you are gonna drive all the way there to deliver them, isn't that still pollution with the car exhaust? Unless of course you own the new cars that run off battery power 50% of the time or whatever.

OK, wash out all the milk cartons to make bird feeders. Go outside to find some dead branches that are just the right size (pencil sized) and trim off anything that would scare the birds. For one bird feeder you need 4 small branches tied together at the ends (one for each side of the feeder). you also need 2 additional sticks for the inside (these make an X pattern inside the bottom and protrude out the bottom corners so you have something to tie the sticks onto the outside). Get some scissors and cut one hole in each side of the milk carton so the birds have a place to feed from. You should end up with 4 holes all-together. Next cut 4 small holes on each corner of the milk carton to poke the inside sticks through. this is a top view of what the sticks should look like when done right: [X] Then take some rope and wrap around the ends of the sticks (first corner - the two side sticks together with the inside stick) do that until all corners are tied and sturdy.

Boy now that i think of it, i hope you saved the lids to these things, cause you need them. Poke a hole in the top of the lid and slide a piece of rope through it and make a knot on the inside of the lid. This is so you can hang the feeder. Fill the bottom with seed, and you got a bird feeder. It may not be super attractive, but i suppose you could decorate it and make it better. maybe you could even sell them, and once you get down the directions and make one right, they are super easy to make, and fast. Any questions email me. hope i helped

Find some nifty craft to make out of them, and then sell it. You can make money, and still not be wasting them.
