I had friend (she's middle) who came to me and was confronted by her sisters (2 sisters) simply because she tried to inquire about the issue regarding some matters that is really hurting the reputation of her aunt. The story that people who are mad at her aunt are trying to circulate are really coming out in bad taste so she decided to inquire regarding the real scenerio. The story was totally different from what was being circulated, so she had to tell one her sister#1 (the eldest) truth and that the other story turned out to be a hate campaign towards her aunt but her sister#2 (the youngest) who was involved in that story got mad cause she was confronted by the aunt and those people who are trying to circulate the story, now she confronted my friend and told her to shut up and she shouldn't have meddled, not start to break up the family and rather would shut so that everybody would be happy. She asked me which is more important: keep quiet & exalt on rumors or come out with facts?

I believe that lies, even white lies, have a strong tendency to backfire and end up hurting the people you are trying to "protect." Therefore, I think it's best to avoid lying. If you've done something that you know is going to hurt someone...you need to just tell them the truth, because the lie will hurt them even more.

Normally "truth: is the better choice, but if it causes conflict between friends, or relatives, and a little white lie, that can't hurt anyone can help this person, don't expose it. Truth often "hurts", and unless you wish to have this certain someone suffer pain, it might be better to remain "close-mouthed." When I was young, my mother used to tell me she knew how often I told these "little white lies". She said, look at your fingernails, and see those little white dots?" "Well each one represents one little white lie." Not true of course, but it makes a good story and gives you something to think about when your young.

I think telling the truth is always the best answer, because when you lie chances are you'll have to lie again the cover the first lie which goes on and on. And if it doesn't involve you don't worry about other peoples business.

Need more information.

What is the exact story, both sides. These kinds of cases you just have to use your better judgement not what some faceless posts say on the internet.

If people were always honest and open minded with each other, then there would never be a need to ever lie.

It's a lot simpler to keep up.

It depends on if you like to stir **** or not I've done both, stirring things up can be very entertaining. but... when it comes to family
it's hard to say everybody has their own rules ! best option... run away!
