It runs on TVO, tractor vapourising oil we used to call it. Start it on petrol. When it gets warm switch over to the TVO tank. Remember to switch back to petrol about five minutes before switching off so you have petrol in the pipes for the next start.
I've just read the other answers! I think paraffin is likely to be nearer to TVO in burn characteristics. The engine would run on deisel if you start it on petrol but I think you would coke up in time. There's a lot of shht in deisel.
Do not use petrol all the time. it has no lubricating qualities since they removed the lead! You will damage the bores with constant petrol washing away the meagre splash oiling under the pistons.

Tvo Tractor vapourising oil. 28 sec central heating oil can be used. Start the engine on petrol and change over to tvo when the engine is hot. you turn off the petrol tap and turn on the tvo tap. Change back to petrol a few minuates before stoppin it. There should be a drain on the carburetter if you forget to change back to petrol before stopping it so you can drain the tvo out of the carb and fill with petrol to start it up from cold.

it starts on petrol but watch how long you run it as the unleaded fuel was not meant to be used in them they supposed to start on 4 star fuel then you change to parafin once they warmed up
