If you worked 3rd shift on Saturday night, would you have to work 9 hours and get paid overtime, or did the factory just shut down for an hour?

I am a police officer and we don't get paid for the extra hour we work, but we also don't get docked for the hour we don't work in the spring when the time changes then. The theory is that ultimately it works out even in the long run.
I would suspect that in a factory environement they would pay you for the extra hour. I think it would cost more to the factory to shut down for an hour.

The company I worked for paid hourly workers 1 hour overtime when changing to Standard time. It also paid for a full 8 hours when workers only put in 7hrs when changing to Daylight savings time.

No you get paid for your 8 hours. They gain an hour, but you gain an hour in the spring so it works out
