You are better off buying a New one. If it is as old as you say, there probably are no parts for it. You are wiser to buy a new one. Rather be safe then sorry. My Freezer went out a month ago. We mored it 4 times in 15 yars. I was advised to just go buy a new one, it we not worth fixing. Good Luck.

Just the service charge for the service tech to come out & diagnose the problem will go a long ways to buying a new freezer. It is pretty hard to spend more than $400 on a new freezer nowadays

If the freezer was 30 years old, I'd say it has done it's duty. :o) Not only are freezers relatively affordable, more than likely the energy efficiency of your old one is probably not very high. The money you will save in your electric bill alone will probably be enough to convince you that a new one was worth it!

I will change the freezer because the whole thing is old at this time. Even if you change the motor it will bring another problem in the near future.

My little freezer is about 30 years old too. You would be better off buying a new one - treat yourself.

If you can, buy a new one and make sure that the stuff you had in it didn't defrost. I would hate to see you get sick over bad meat! Freezers don't cost a fortune....shop around and see. My husband is someone that tries to fix something since he is a mechanic and we always have heated depates when something goes bad. But I always tell him I would rather have something new and in warranty, than something he tried to find the parts for and tried to fix and could go wrong again in 2 months.
Have a great day!
