Most insurance companies are in the business of trying to avoid paying claims. This is why the burden of proof is on the insured. Ask your urologist if he will write an opinion that this is necessary for health reasons. Get it approved by the insurance company first, rather than assuming they will pay and then getting an unpleasant surprise. Contrary to what the first respondent above said, it may make perfect sense to you that you need to do this for medical reasons. But you aren't judge and jury here; the insurance company is. As the for sexual gratification question, I can't speak to this because I was circumcised as a baby. I don't know anything else.

If it's considered a medical necessity the insurance company will cover it, if not, then it's a cosmetic issue. If you can get your doctor to say it has an affect on your health, it would be covered. As far as the sex part...don't know, I'm a woman. Good Luck

If the doctor can prove that there is a medical reason for the circumcision, then it can be covered by your health insurance. The most common medical condition can be an overly-tight foreskin, otherwise called "phimosis" (See site reference below).
Once your doctor determines the medical reason, he can send the information to your medical insurance, and then the procedure can be practiced. Now, if you just want to get your foreskin snipped because of aesthetic reasons......that's another story. It is considered Plastic Surgery, and you'll have to pay out-of-pocket.
Best of Luck!

unless you have a bona fide medical reason, insurance will not pay. if you have phimosis or another problem..it should be covered. talk to the urologist or surgeon and see if they can help you with the particulars so that your surgery can be 'coded' right and you will only be responsible for the co-pays...something that may make it cheaper is to have it done at a surgery centre and not a hospital...i can't help you with the aftereffects though, someone else wil have to help you

Every insurance company is different but my guess is that unless the foreskin is actually causing a problem of some kind and it's documented as having been problematic the answer is NO!

It is a cosmetic procedure and is not covered. Unless, for some reason it is medically necessary. It may then be covered.

Just my guess...I don't think it will be covered. It's an elective procedure at this time. Not required. If it isn't medically necessary, you're probably gonna have to pay for it.

Don't do it unless it is absolutely necessary.I had a couple of friends who had it done, one for medical reasons the other was elective and they both said that the pain was terrible, especially when they got an involuntary erection. My friend who elected to have it done regretted it later.

I am the wife, and yes our insurance paid for the procedure, because sex became too painful for my husband. He was 39.
Sex after was better, he says. Much more sensitive. I hope this helped
