I am currently 11 weeks as of tomorrow. I have my 12 week appointment with my doctor next week. Should I hear my babies heart beat then? Should I be concerned if I don't?

I am overweight will this may a difference in the ability to hear the baby's heartbeat?

Your baby's heart begins to beat around 5 to 6 wks. You should be able to hear a heartbeat at 12 wks. A skilled technician/nurse should be able to find it.

I am pretty overweight, and I heard the heart beats by 8 weeks with both pregnancies. By 12 weeks, I would think that no matter what you should beable to hear it. It might take the doctor longer to find it because of the position and the layers of fat, but it should be found. Don't let being overweight give you a bad experience! I have a beautiful, perfect healthy 13 month old daughter and 12 weeks along with my second! Good Luck!

In most cases, you should be able to hear the heartbeat through a doppler. However, depends on if your uterus is tilted or not, you may not be able to find it with a doppler. Also, try avoid any sugary foods at least 3 hours before the exam, so the baby won't be on sugar high and bouncing around too much. A little overweight won't make any difference, you probably have to be severely obeses to make a difference.

I heard my baby's hb at 9 weeks, so i think you are gonna hear it....I really don't know if being overweight makes a difference, but I don't think so.. you should ask your dr at your appointment

I heard the heartbeat @ 8 weeks. :-) They should be able to find it!

And if not, I wouldn't get too alarmed, If the dr. is worried (provided he can't find it) they can do an ultrasound to make sure baby is alright! :-)

Best of luck!!!!

You should definitely be able to hear it tomorrow. I heard my baby's at about 9 weeks, which is early. Good luck and enjoy that beautiful sound!
