The absolute truth of the matter is that USB connection is faster, but ethernet cables have more stability, which allows it to operate on a more direct path. Usually, you can see a minute difference in the two with the percentage of speed over time being higher on the USB end, but it is not significant enough to be concerned about it. Hope this helps.

it depends on a lot of things. How is the hardware in your computer? If it is old and out of date then it will not help. Ethernets usually run 10/100 mbps. I have no idea where you got a 25mbps, unless maybe it is dialup? I am not sure of the difference between USB and LAN connection. LAN will probably be better because the ethernet port is specifically developed for internet connection purpose.

Probably not. The USB 2.0. has a raw data rate at 480Mbps, and it is rated 40 times faster than its predecessor interface, USB 1.1, which tops at 12Mbps.
The advantage comes when you are using many USB devices or a USB Port Replicator (a device that connects to a USB port and has, usually, 4 USB ports for connecting another devices). So, if you are using many USB devices the bandwidth can be lower than 480Mbps. In that case I recommend you to use a network card.
P.S. Even if the USB is not used as its maximum bandwidth capacity I still recommend you yo buy a NIC.

Ethernet is always going to be faster as long as your card can support it and the ethernet wires are standard or better. 25mbps is pretty fast, if your connection is faster than that then i doubt usb or your modem can handle it.
