It depends on the bag, but you should check:
The pattern (whether the monogram is centered)
The design (the dimensions/size is consistent with authentic bags, and there are no missing pieces/add-ons...for example and LV alma should NOT have feet)
The tags (there should be no tags attached to the bag, and yellow cards are a big no-no).
The color (a lot of fake monogram LVs are either greenish or too brown; it should have a goldenrod color).
The leather (LV uses vachetta leather which is smooth to touch and darkens over time. Also, LVs have a distinct leather smell, even if the bag has a patina).
Heat stamps (fakes have terrible heat stamps. Usually the "o" is not as round as the authentic LV...fakes also either have faint or too deep heat stamps).
LVs should have authentic datecodes NOT serial numbers!

Always the price! I bought a Gucci wallet on e-bay, the write-up said it was authentic etc blah blah. The wallet looked fantastic, came boxed and wrapped in the special Gucci paper, and even had a certificate with a serial number. I was delighted.
The 'leather' split a few months later so I went to a Gucci boutique and compared it to the ones they had, you could then soooo tell that the product was fake. Stuff like that rarely goes cheap, unless it has been stolen I guess.

By the workmanship , fakes however good they are have an inferior quality,material,finish,stitching ,lining up of patterns etc !
If you go to a real LV shop and have a look at the real thing you will be able to tell the difference afterwards !
By the way, report the sellers of fakes to the trading standards dep. for everybody's sake !

Why would anyone want to pay an inordinate sum of money for a LV handbag, wallet etcetera? I don't advocate the fakes either - buy something "different" it is far more of a statement.
If you really want one you have already got some good advice on here.

real louis vuittons are lined luxuriously i mean really luxuriously on the inside, have a unique serial number on the inside, usually in an inside pocket, are not made in france. and are only sold in louis vuitton shops unless its second hand and lastly if you owned a real one you would nt need to ask cos the quality really stands out.

real ones should come with an authentic card with a number on it, if it doesnt have this it is most likely fake.

most common sign is when the LV logo is cut or only half seen at edges,real ones the whole LV is never cut through

serial numbers on the inside of the wallets or bags. fake doesnt have those.
