Dear ALL...I am a Muslim girl of 19years.
No, i dont SUPPORT SHABANA AZMI
As far as i know it is very important for a girl to cover all parts of her body including her head except for faces and her hands. This is mentioned in the Quran.I beleive burkha is the best way in which she will be able to cover all parts of her body!
Whatever Allah has said in the Quran, all Have TO FOLLOW. And what ever it is , its for our good.
The covering of the Muslim woman is not an option, it is a privilege and a commandment from Allah. It is the duty of every Muslim woman and the responsibility of every Muslim man.
May all you people try to learn and understand the real religion Islam. And what exatly is it trying to teach!
May Allah forgive me if i said anything that is wrong

I haven't heard of Shabana Azmis.
As for as I'm concerned, if the person you speak of doesn't think women should be forced to wear a burkha....I agree.

This is the first time when Shabana raised her voice against Muslim fundamentalists. So we all must support her.
You can check that she has always been raising her voice against Hindu organisations in the past. I would like to appreciate Shabana that she dares to speak in her own community. Her voice would lead a way to freedom for Muslim women in India.
Right of freedom must not be viewed in the context of religion. How many of us follow religions' principles word to word? So why only women and just because they are Muslim?

Strongly support the stand of Shabana azmi...In fact the word
compulsion is not good in any sphere of life. However there can
be convincing... NOT compelling.

The suggestion in itself is OK, except that Shabana's purpose in giving it is NOT bonafide. She will DO Anything FOR CHEAP publicity. This is her History.
Earlier, by speaking against MAHA AARTIS, she displeased the Hindus, & now her own Jaatwaalaas are cursing her for this unsolicited & un acceptable advice. As long as her name figures in Headlines, it is fine with Shabby.

Nothing can be forced upon anyone. It is the freedom of the indidual whether she wants to wear a burqa or not. Women no longer can be considered the weaker sex.
Any mullah who insists that women must wear a burqa, must lead by example and wear one himself!

It is in th Quran that women must cover their hair and most of their bodies. The method used is a cultural decision. Just like Christians wouldn't like Muslims analyzing and criticizing Christian beliefs and customs, I do not feel it is my right as a non-muslim to analyze and criticize theirs.

In fact no body should ever be compelled to do any thing against his/her will. It should be left to ones own discretion/morals/values. Sorry! animals are an exception to this proposition.
