In many ways happier - but it's different after 30 years! The passion that was much of our drive in the early days is still present - but nowhere near as often!! We have much unhappiness in our lives - but maybe that's what makes us happier and closer together. It's a strange phenomenon and I always feel sad when couples separate when their is a 'glitch' in their relationship. It just needs working at for a little time, that's all. Glitches are normal ... and they pass.

I guess it depends what you mean by "happier"...
The hard-core rush of new love is long gone, but it's been replaced by a deep sense of trust, feelings of security and stability, and the wonderful feeling of knowing I can always count on my wife to support me and help me no matter what. That we still don't act like teenagers with a crush doesn't bother me at all -- the relationship has matured along with us :) If you're asking if I have regrets -- not a chance. Best thing I ever did.

I am happier now than I was then. I am more comfortable with our relationship, more trusting, more relaxed and more settled. When we first got together I was always waiting for him to do something to screw it up because I'd had such bad experiences in the past. I was afraid to just relax and let myself be happy; was too guarded. Now that we have been together for awhile I am able to just enjoy him and not worry about it anymore.
