Should Polygamy be allowed would depend on who you are, where you live and your beliefs.....For me it won't work

Advantages-One big Family-lots of relatives-More than one person does the cooking, cleaning, etc.
Disadvantages-JEALOUSY.....

My opinion Polygamy should be allowed. WE have better things in this country to worry about than how many spouses someone has......
Advantages: There would be alot less divorce cases. Because all parties involved would be honest and open with each other from the beginning. And more people in the house to take care of the children and the chores.
Disadvantages: I honestly can not think of any unless perhaps jealousy came into play.
I for one have my days an extra wife or two would come in handy :-)

Polygamy was prevailed in the times( even now in some parts) where the males are dominant earners and where the society is predominantly based on male chauvinism.Idea here is he 'protects' his females for various reasons, and ofcourse one of the main reasons for polygamy was men died as a result of wars, violance etc,so it was an adjustment of the society to provide a house for the vulnerable female and her kids with dignity.
Monogamy was a result of women's liberation movement.
Disadvantages of polygamy are--husband is not ur property.LOL.

If all parties concerned show respect and love for each other, polygamy actual favors the women involved. Think of having those extra pairs of hands to help with the work and the children, not to mention there always being someone to confide in.

Unfortunately, that is most often not the case and the women involved are treated poorly and live in poverty all their lives, in thrall to men who misuse them.

well not sure never been there. personally one woman is enough for me two would just be a mess if you ask me. but i am sure there is some sharing of the work load and when rasing children there would be advantages. disads would be time with the husband would be half if not less and dealing with another woman when she gets stressed would be a wake up call think about when your mom gets mad for no reason and then have to deal with the person. yeah if you are not real sumissive dont think about being a second or third bride.

No. Yuck. How can 1 man afford all those wives? And all of those children? But other than that, how can only men can have multiple wives and not the other way around?

We just talked about them today at class, & i definitly think it's not allowed. First of all, It's stupid for a man to marry more than one woman & then he would have much more children & the population will grow more & more & obviously any civilized woman wouldn't allow her husband to marry another woman right ;) ?

disadvantages:
multiple mothers-in-law, all wives get periods at same time eventually, expensive, unfair to other men, leave too many widows, too many orphans,( if you die), kids do not get enough male attention, cat-fighting spats, too many bras hanging on shower rod, quadstereophonic nagging, constant chater and whir of sewing machines, no rest for the weary.
Advantages: always somebody willing to get it on, good food, plenty of clean laundry, never lonely, scads of progeny, extra income from welfare, variety in lovemaking, ego building, clean house.

sure, why not, so long as it is between consenting adults. not that I could understand why a guy would want more than one wife... or a girl would want more than one husband...
imagine the headaches!
