I want to help a mate by going on their PC because I can't explain

Try installing VNC on to both PCs.
Run VNC Server on your mates PC and VNC Viewer on yours.

Using VNC enter the IP address of the PC in the VNC viewer.
To find out the current address on the remote PC go to a command prompt and type IPCONFIG
this will give you the address.
BUT the best way is to go to:
Log onto:
https://secure.logmein.com
from the remote PC.
Join the site and install Secure Logmein client on the PC. You can then access the PC from ANY PC with Internet access!!

Download vnc from http://www.realvnc.com and install on both computers
Or if you are on WinXP, you can try Remote Desktop Connection.
VNC is easier to use at the same time both party can see what is going on.
Going in other's computer without their permission is not advisable.

He can find his I.P. address by typing find my IP in his search box.

That's not possible.u can't use ur Mates IP and get in it.
thts no use DUDE . u need other stuff.or try Cables .
