Labour will not be a dignity as long as it is underpaid. The day labourer is paid all his dues it will be a dignified job. But this would be possible only when there are a few people who could actually do the labour work. This is not the case today specially in developing nations.

Have you ever heard the saying: whatever is worth doing, is worth doing well? That's the genesis of the term 'dignity of labour'. It doesn't matter how menial the job might be considered, as long as you do it to the best of your ability and are proud of it.. Sometimes the monetary reward is not commensurate with the effort you put in it; however, nothing short of excellence is justified.
