Okay, i have mine done on the top and on the bottom of my belly button. The most painful and extremely agonising and traumatising one was the bottom one.
Oh my god did it kill me. I couldn't get it done at the top originally because of a hernia scar that was still new, so i had to get it done on the bottom.....wow weeee don't do it, seriously i've given birth twice and that comes close i swear.
Not only did i have to walk with a bent back as it felt like it was pulling but it kept getting caught on my work trousers and tore it a few times.
A few years later i got the top pierced and it was a doddle. No problem, no pain, just a sting like getting your ears done.
Trust me Top is best, good luck

Hi, it will hurt a little but not too much, i think it looks better to get it peirced at the top. Also make sure you go to a good place to get it done rather than somewhere cheap and keep it clean whilst its heeling, using hydrogen peroxide 3% solution once every couple of days and pure salt water solution every morning and evening and then it should be fine.

Okay, they aren't that bad at all. Everyone feels pain differently. The more you work yourself up, the more your mind will make it hurt.

Alright, you CAN get it many ways, It depends on what you want, and also on your anatomy, and the piercer's skills. Here are some, but they're not limited to them:
Standard:

The top is the standard, and I'm sure this is what you're wanting, but there is definately not only one way to do it...Hm, not sure you'll want the rest...but you have some of these options...

Do some research if you like. Remember that you must follow the aftercare perfectly(your piercer should tell you). Make sure you go to a very reputable shop, with a sterile enviornment and competent piercers, and have them ask any questions you may have. They are not very painful, but you run the risk of snagging them on clothes, infection if you do not keep bacteria out of the piecing/taking care of it properly.. And keep in mind that Navel piercings take a long time to heal..

Get it done I'm 53 and had it done for my 5lst birthday, it didn't hurt one bit. I had it done through the top of the belly button.

Having my belly button pierced was a little sorer than my eyebrow but not nearly as sore as my tongue. On the downside however, my eyebrow healed in three weeks and tongue in a week, had my belly button done since end of march and it still bothers me, its ok at times but other times, usually if i ve been wearing tight jeans or something it gets red and itchy and it leaks. It takes a loing time to heal, make sure you don't wear cheap belly bars for at least a year as infections from these can take weeks to heal, if you get it done your as well leaving it completely alone for a year, don t even take it out. But make sure you keep it clean. Good Luck!

It goes through the top, they do freeze it so no it doesn't hurt but you can feel it, after that wears off it is a bit sore be careful not catch it with your clothes and when you bend over, keep it covered with a huge plaster for two weeks cleaning and moving the bar up and down gently everyday, use warm salt water, they will give instructions when you have it done but just in-case.

Had mine done 5 years ago, took it off a year later and now will forever have the scar. Having it done is one of the few things I regret.
In my opinion, get yourself some great earrings, bracelets, rings and leave your belly button alone. As some people said before, it looks cheap and is no longer fashionable.

definatly yes, personally i love it on girls it does hurt but not for long. go for the top then if you like it go mad and have the bottom and even the sides done aswell. be sure to follow the aftercare (clean it with salt water twice a day for a month) and it should heal nicley) but anyone who tells you peircings/ tatoos dont hurt are lieing. but there we go no pain no gain.

It doesnt hurt that much as they freeze it, take a pain killer a hour or so before you go takes the edge of any pain you may have. through the top is best, looks good, but the botton look good to slightly more quirky.
