Water has to purified because of the micro-organisms that can be found in water that can harm a new baby...you have choices...buy bottle water, filter it, or boil it....it all up to you. I boiled it but had general bottle water on hand for when I was on the go with my little ones.

Use bottled water or boiled water. Tap water can have bacteria that could get the baby sick.

Bottled water, and my doctor told me NOT to buy the nursery water that has flouride in it because it is actually bad for babies to have too much. We buy one store brand of bottled DRINKING water. There is a difference between bottled distilled and bottled drinking water. My doctor advised not to use tap either because of the additives and possible contaminations. It's a whole 50 cents a gallon!

Well, this depends on where you are and the quality of the water that comes out your taps. Here in the UK you should always use once boiled, tap water. Bottled waters aren't suitable for babies due to the high mineral content in them, apparently.

I buy bottled water for everyone in my household. I get my water delivered to my house. I know that a lot of people that post on here are going to recommend the Nursery Water, don't use this stuff. Flouride is not good for you, or your baby. If you like you can do a Google search on the dangers of Flouride.

When I dried up at 4 months and had to go to formula, I bought bottled water at first. But now I use tap water from my parents' house. They have very good water. My son is 7 months old.

I used bottled water. You can leave it on the counter and use it at room temp. Easier for when you are away and can not heat up a bottle. The baby is use to room temp. I use to keep a 16 oz bottle of water in the diaper bag. I was then ready for a couple of bottles when the baby got hungry.
