i need some advice on how to warm up my bedroom, it is absolutely freezing in here! i already have 2 duvets on my bed and winter hasnt even properly started. once winter is here i will be able to see my breath when i breathe out and usually get several bouts of cold and flu before spring comes. i have a heater on the way but i think all the heat is going to end up on the outside of my window as there is a draught. please help, i am freezing!

Put some cling film over the window frame. Make sure that it's taught and air tight. If possible, and of you can create another gap, put a third layer over the whoel window frame.

This should act like an inferior double glazing.

Otherwise; make sure that you've cut off most of the draughts - but make sure that you let at least SOME air into your room.

How about an electric blanket; though I would imagine that it's not a good idea to leave them on when you're sleeping in the bed.

Other options would be wearing thermals and a hat and socks in bed - this will reduce heat loss.

Buy a secondhand birdcage, intact or damaged, Buy a batten type bulbholder( the type with no cord),have it wired up correctly, fit a dark red or blue 15w bulb put it in the cage and plug in .
Place under bed, and leave on continuously, the slight heat keeps the bed dry & warm . I had one when I was at sea, and it saved my life as I was able to get a good nites sleep.
NB Place bulbholder on a piece of wood, so that fitting is down..
If you have a divan tough luck go for FELIDAE he seems to have got it correct.
Under no circumstances buy a portable gas heater, it will exacerbate the situation

STOP the draft first you could make some sort of double glazing as temp measure i did this on a door window you need a sheet of perspex and some clear sealant get the perspex cut to the same size as the window fix to a wooden frame with the sealant then prop it up into window frame its temp and you just take it down when you want the window open. But it will stop the draft.
Did you know the worst place on your body for heat loss is your head .

OK..Forget about warming up the bedroom, except for hanging insulated drapes on the windows. (You can use blankets or rugs if you don't want to invest in the drapes. If you can get one of the Down comforters that are advertised everywhere for $39. or get flannel sheets instead of cotton it will help. The best things I have found are winter socks, and if it's REALLY cold in your room, (and this sounds stupid, I know) is put a wool cap on your head. If your feet and head are covered, it seems your body will warm up. Good Luck

Get an electric blanket and a sleeping bag. I stay in my travel trailer year round. I have a military arctic bag, but I find that too confining. Gas is expensive so I use two electric heaters when it gets real cold, like down toward zero. Thank God we only have a couple of days like that a year. Although I did spend a winter in this in Minnesota.

If you are in UK, go to HomeBase, they have seasonal double glazing. Sticks over the whole window (like clingfilm) with double sided tape, then remove the crinkles with a hairdryer....no more draughts. If there is a gap under your door, make a sausage of old cloth as a draught stop.

try putting a blanket over the window for now. especially where you think the heat is getting out. also try putting a towel or blanket at the door bottom to keep in the heat. but the blanket over the window will make the heat stay in for the most part and try to keep your feet warm... that will keep the rest of you warmer
