Try to stay with things you know, Embellish the situation and or their caricatures . There is nothing new , only new ways of telling the story.

A person is being chased through the woods. They are terrified, but in the end the protagonist realizes that his friends were playing a joke on him/her. Good scary story around Halloween.

A bit morbid but could be quite touching - how about a mother getting her new born baby ready for church and talking about her feelings of love and stories about her pregnancy,etc. the twist is that instead of going to her christening its the baby's funeral.

a guy gets married to the perfect girl and then discovers, after several children, that she is his sister that was put up for adoption when his folks were poor.
He decides not to tell her but loses his virility when he tries anything. She gets hurt and angry and suspects him having affair.
