My definition of God in this case is an external being or presence who created the universe, life etc A 'creator'.

I am asking this a few times over the next few weeks to get a general idea if more or less people believe in God these days.

Personally I do not believe in God.

Please read my words carefully:
If you see footmark in the sand, you'll say that someone passed from here...
If you see a piece of dog sh*t on the ground, you'll say that a dog passed from here...
So what about the enormous universe, the sky, stars, planets, earth and all the beauty in it, doesn't it lead to that someone made it?!!!

Some people say that everything is created by itself after the big-bang... I won't ask you about what caused the big-bang, but I'll ask you a simple question:
If you take all the letters of the alphabet, multiples of them, and you threw them randomly on the floor. Do you expect (by a chance of one in infinity) to get a poem like shakespear's??!!

Can't you see how organized our universe is, the planets, the eco-system on earth, look even in your own body... Can you control your heart-beat? Can you control your breath while you're sleeping? Who stopped your eye-lashes from growing after reaching a certain length? Who told the baby turtles to move towards the sea and not to the earth after they come out of their eggs? Who taught the bird how to make nests?

My friend, think with your heart and brain. If you're still lost, think about the following:

Do you know how to play safe?
Your point:
If there's no God and you do all what you want in life, then nothing will happen to you after life. But if there was God and you were mistaken, then you'll blame yourself FOREVER...

Believer's point:
If there's God and I followed His commands in life, then I'll be in Heaven after life FOREVER. But if there was no God and we're mistaken, then nothing bad will happen to us after life...

Now you know how to play-safe, in case you're not convinced?

Yes I do. My whole life has been a journey experiencing God's presence in my life. Not everyone was meant for this, but you have been given free will. When you accept Jesus Christ and his teachings into your heart, God promises to (among other things) offer you a type of wage none other could match, that of eternal life. When I say "wage" i know some foolish people might feel inclined to take this literally, but what I mean is that God wants us to accept a certain way of life, so that ultimately, we can benefit from it. The Bible also says that God IS LOVE. (probably because so many people to whom it was preached in the early days of the Bible, wanted evidence!) And we know that Love never dies, love has no beginning and no end, and even though this might be a simplistic explanation to describe God's multi-faceted state of being, its a part explanation which will be made whole when we re-unite with God. Books have been written about all of this, and many more is yet to come, whether you believe or not, God does exist. Only say in a prayer if you have a desire to discover God, that you'd like to know more about Him, ask God (in a prayer) to come into your life and end the prayer by saying "in Jesus' name"...who knows, what have you got to lose?

I know that I believe in God, but, I am in constant conflict with belief in the Holy Trinity or just a spiritual guide. I was raised in a home without church and a Buddhist grandmother and I married in to a family of Christian ministers (not my husband). So, I figure that I will be forever searching, studying, and wondering, as is life!

Why is it people keep coming on here asking the same, boring, POINTLESS questions? You KNOW you aren't going to get many Vicars or Archbishops on here extolling the virtues of religion - you're either going to get all the regular religious crowd or people like me who are immediately going to say "NO", so I wonder why you bother. As to asking this "a few times etc", watch out - somebody could report you for repeated postings! I got a violation this morning for "profanity" from some prat in America (even though there was nothing profane whatsoever in my answer!), so don't be surprised if you get one from New Zealand or somewhere else far away! (It won't be me, guaranteed!) It just goes to show that even though that box tells us that we're on the UK/Ireland site and tells us again at the top of every page, these outsiders still muscle in on our site.

I would like to, but I don't.

I believe there is an afterlife of some description, but I don't believe in heaven or God. I used to but then I thought, If there was a God, Why would he let babies or innocent people die, what have they ever done to anyone.

There is just too much injustice in the world, for there to be an omnipresent God.

I believe in evolution. I know it to be fact. I do not believe in "God" as a human-like being watching over everyone. I do not believe in heaven, hell, and all that other nonsense. However, as far as what "energy/force" set everything in motion. I don't know what that was. I don't think that science necessarily disputes the possibilty of some force starting the universe on its path..and as far as what happens after we die, well...I have no idea, and whether people like to admit it or not...nobody does.
