Getting the Taliban is important, because if we fail there Afghanistan will be yet another example of a country that the US blew up in order to bring the citizens a better life, and then failed to deliver on the better life part of the deal. The Taliban is also instrumental in the opium trade.
That said, Afghanistan has been a sore spot in European politics for a long time. The Soviet Union tried to kick out the Taliban for more than 10 years, and it was their Vietnam--soldiers fought valiantly but failed in their objective, and returned home in defeat. WWI was started in the neighboring serbian areas. It was a powder keg last century, and continues to be. I'm not sure if the risk-reward is worth it, but ending Taliban control is a worthy goal. Compared to Iraq--I can't answer that--I'm not sure why we are still in Iraq.
Looks like some other answerers are mixing up Al Queda with the Taliban!

Chile has it. The Taliban are scuffling with out of CONVICTION, no longer for a (inadequate) salary. additionally, they do no longer seem to be of a similar character as a militia, can flow approximately at will on a whim, mixture in on a whim, and have no bases to attack. The forces arrayed against them have no theory what they're attempting to do--they seem to have been ordered to chase the Taliban from here to there, and then back back next week. additionally to sparkling the Taliban OUT of a city, despite the fact that presently as quickly as they pull out. How the hell is absolutely everyone meant to win THAT? there is not any longer something to win--purely a persevering with shuffling back and forth, each and all of the mutually as dropping some infantrymen. don't be attentive to approximately wages--i does no longer try this at GUNPOINT. stupid c***s. What a waste of f***ing TIME, money and eminently expendable infantrymen. (Spit)

The Taliban live in Afghanistan so where exactly are you planning to get them out to? You cannot force people to change, they must be free to follow their own path. Perhaps if you left them alone they'd do the same, shame you need to put oil pipelines through their country, if you didn't we'd probably never have heard of them. Wouldn't that be nice?

Whats funny is......
The USA put the Taliban in power.
The USA use to support Saddam...even Rumsfeld claimed him as a friend and has many pictures of them two together.
There is more to all this than what most know, see on the news, what the news is allowed to release, etc.

No, killing them and putting them into Afghanistan soil is. And we need to keep killing them as long as they feel the need to strap explosives on their own kids to advance the principle of world islamic dominance.
