A machine knows only through perception and logic(not to be confused with reason).

Not yet. Approximately another 25 years is believed to be the point at which our understanding of the Human Brain and the power of computers will converge. When it happens we will discover if you just get a very powerful computer or a sentient one.

Until then it's just logic and feedback circuitry following pre-programmed responses. That may be all it ever is, just so damn fast that it resembles conscious thought.
