I loved organic chemistry for a few reasons:
Life would not exist without all of the millions of carbon compunds.
The formulas and models look cool, at least to me.
I made perfumes, edibles, and one thing that I will not mention here.
It got me jobs where I met real interesting people, and made some money - I lived off of it.
It was intellectually challenging.
I made puns from chemical names, and drew insane pictures, and got the prof laughing so hard he couldn't prof.
I got my favorite firing from a chem job.
It allowed me to answer your Q, and thank you!

Natural sources of energy, namely, land-water-air-atmosphere-fire and their checks of balances between them. i like them that they are basically responsible for all forms of energy in this world and final answers to the creation.
