Before someone let me borrow a Raggedy Ann costume I was going to go as "Asleep and Awake"....I was going to cut a pair of pajamas in half and loosely sew them to another outfit...
Then wear half of my hair in curlers with mascara smeared under my eye...etc....Then the other half of my hair would be done up all nice and my hair fixed up. Slipper on one foot, nice shoe on the other....
It's an easy costume and perfectly fine to wear if you work...

One year, my husband (who is taller than I) and I made a 2 peas in a pod costume. We used two green kids rubber balls (found in any grocery store), green t-shirts, shorts and leggings. We covered our shoes in green felt and I took a piece of foam rubber, cut it to resemble a pea-pod, spray painted it green and added velcro closures. At judging time, we wrapped ourselves up in the pod, and put our heads down. Then my hubby raised his head and said "All we are saying..." and then I raised my head and said "....is give peas a chance." Everyone about fell out. We won hands down.
