I don't believe there is a gene or genes controlling gender identity. I do believe there are genes that determine and control certain predilections. Predilections for what I'm not sure at this point and I don't think anyone really knows. In a way this question is one residing in the larger set of questions revolving around nature versus nurture. I believe (unlike most heterosexuals and most homosexuals) that it is not a question of either/or. I believe gender identity ultimately is the result of both nature and nurture. What the heterosexual community I think fails to comprehend is just how much their attitudes and behaviors contribute to the evolution of the gay male and lesbian woman in our society. Face up to your participation in this societal epic folks. We all bear part of the responsibility.

I'm a lesbian trapped in a man's body... help! OK... seriously...
Some years ago scientists found a gene which, when present, seems to determine whether a person is more or less likely to be homosexual. So to some extent at least we could all claim to have been born with a particular sexuality.
But, humans being human, nothing is as simple as that because we have a tendency to try new things and experiment. There are straight people who have become homosexual and homosexuals who have become straight and others who will only stick with one or other form of sexuality.
As a Law Practice Manager, I have seen a number of different cases... eg:-
*two women who were married to two guys who were brothers. Both couples were married for 20 years and had children. Then the women just left the guys and formed a lesbian relationship with each other.
*a lesbian couple who split up because one of them had met and fallen in love with a guy
*a male/female couple who have been happily married for nearly 30 years (and are still married) but the guy likes to sneak out once in a while and meet guys for sex in public toilets.
Few are "born" 100% born heterosexual or homosexual... there is a complete range and no single "line" that can be drawn. The important thing is that people are allowed to live their lives the way they choose (providing that they neither harm other people nor impose their lifestyle upon other people). I don't walk down the street proclaiming that I'm heterosexual or belong to a heterosexual pressure group or attend "heterosexual rallies" and I think it would be a whole lot better if the homosexual community behaved in a similar manner

I am a female in a heterosexual relationship, but I believe all people have there thoughts or fantasies of being with the same sex. Sometimes the ideas become very entertaining .My brother is very open with his choices and his lifestyle, and I support him in any way possible. But to answer your question, u cant change your life, feelings ,or dreams like you can turn off a light. You are who u r and were meant to be.

When I hit puberty I started noticing women, but before that I just chased them around and pulled their hair. I was born wanting to be with women. The male form is ugly to me but the female form is pure art, so I was born this way.

Girl what kind of dreams have you been having to come up with a question like that? To answer it though, It's all a mind thing. IF you grow up around animals you will act like an animal. I believe that women bodies are made for male bodies, and vice versa. And that's that!!! Which means you should be with the part that fits your body!

Why would you want to? If you like the opposite sex why try to change. If you need help to get that way then maybe you were born to be attracted to the opposite sex. I think most people were but made a choice to change.
