My father was a survivor from the USS Oklahoma at Pearl Harbor (1941) and he just passed away recently. Is it in bad taste to have a Naval Tat done in his honor with the ships name and numbers, even though I never served in the military?

i do not think so. but perhaps you should have your father's name on it. " in memory of _____" ya know. also maybe you shouold talk to some Naval vets to see what they think. id ask my dad but he moved to idaho.

If it is a tribute to him then no, I do not believe it would be in bad taste. Only if you got those tattoos so you could pose as someone who had been in the military would it be in bad taste.

Besides tattoos are very personal things. Truely you are the only one who has to approve of the design and the meanings behind it. If you feel strongly about this, then yes follow what you believe and get it done.

What was your fathers opinion on tatoos? If you are only having one done now because he is gone then I think your choice of subject is bad taste.

Taste has nothing to do with naval personnel objecting to you having a tat which you haven't earned. If you make it clear that it is a tribute tatoo you may survive unscathed.
