You might as well ask what cars people drove between 1950 and 1990. That's far too broad a question, the Cold War went on for decades. At the start of that period the UK was flying Spitfires, Lancasters, Yorks and many other aircraft types. The US was operating everything from P51Ds through B29s with many many other types. By the end the US had F14s, F15s and F16s, France was operating many Mirage variants and Jaguars and the UK was flying Tornados, Bucaneers, Harriers, Jaguars and various other things. In between whole generations of aircraft came and went.

The U2 spy plane was used by the USA over Soviet Union, lots of other war plans were used to patrol our own Sky's. Hope that helps

My favourite British plane was the Vulcan bomber, featured in the Bond film Thunderball, which carried Britain's nuclear deterrent until 1969. It last saw action in the Falklands in 1982. I saw one in a museum and it had a gigantic wingspan.

U2 spy planes were used by the USA during the cold war. they were used to spy on the Russians in Cuba durign the Cuban missile crisis. - hope that helps
