I am 25 years old and I'm 3 days late for my cycle. Usually when I'm late it's only two days. I'm showing no signs of my normal menstruation symptoms (swollen breasts, acne... mood swings - none of the normal). I'm beginning to get worried.
Sometimes I have spotting when I ovulate... this month that was also late. My husband and I had protected sex just 3 days before I showed the signs of ovulating. I asked him when the spotting happened if he noticed anything wrong, his answer "No."
My husband and I don't believe it birth control drugs or implants. In fact it's the risks involved that he refuses to let me take the pill... so the only contraceptive we use are condoms. Which I also know can have it's, how should I say, accidents.
I'm just a bit panicked... I'm on day three of waiting for my period, and there's nothing...
Okay, back to the question. How long must I wait to take a pregnancy test? Usually when I'm late it's only by 2 days... it's now been 3.

BTW, I have also agreed to not take BC. The health risks have always bothered me. My mother was the same way. I am very aware of the risks my husband have with condoms, and so is he. We've been looking into other options, such as the sponge, or the diaphram, but for now, this is our choice.
Also part of the reason we made this choice was at the time we had no money for anything, and saving to go to the doctor was like not eating for a few days... or so it felt... now that we have money and we're both working, the options are now available.

Sweetie, relax. The odds of you being pregnant are so small that they are almost impossible. The odds of getting pregnant from a single act of unprotected ( and you used condoms) when you are ovulating ( and you were not) are about 20%. That makes your odds just about nil.
In regard to the test you should wait until your period is one full week late.
I woudl relax and quit worrying. Your period will start.
BTW, if you are pregnant will you let me know? Seriously, I would be very interested.
Take care honey.

My hubby and I also used condoms only. I did not like the pill at all, too many side effects! And yes, there can be accidents with the condom. We have 2 beautiful accidents...umm I mean children now! We love them so much and are so blessed to have them!!!!
If you know you ovualted late, then it would make sense that you start a few days late also. Don't panic yet. I would wait another day or two before going out to buy a test. Check on the box and it should tell you how soon it can be used.

How soon after a missed period can I take a home pregnancy test and get accurate results?
Many home pregnancy tests (HPTs) claim to be 99% accurate on the day you miss your period. But research suggests that most HPTs do not consistently spot pregnancy that early. And when they do, the results are often so faint they are misunderstood. If you can wait one week after your missed period, most home pregnancy tests will give you an accurate answer. Ask your doctor for a more sensitive test if you need to know earlier.
Good luck! I hope that helps.

You can take one now. Usually tests will show as soon as 4 days before your missed period. It could be that since you ovulated late, that your period will be a few days off too. Sometimes a woman will have a weird cycle and then everything will straighten itself out and then next month will be normal. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Take a test and see what it says. Condoms can be effective if used correctly. There are instances of accidents, but if used right, your chances are very low. I would get a test and then relax. More then likely, you are just having an off cycle this month.

Most pregnancy tests say they can determine a positive reading the first day of your "Missed" period. Some sooner. You can go ahead and test now. If it shows up negative, and by the end of the week you still don't start. Test again. At this point whether positive or negative, make an appointment with your doctor.

Honey, the fact that you are stressing about your late period could be delaying it. Often, if you think that you could be pregnant, the body will give you symptoms to support your thinking.
Don't worry. Wait until the end of the week. If you come on, then you'll know that there is nothing to worry about.
If you don't, then you can take a test or go to your doctor.
Whatever happens, I wish you all the best.

if you ovulated late, then your period will be late the time between ovulation and period is usually between 13-15 days for all women regardless of cycle length i would wait until 17 days after the time you thought you ovulated before testing

you can take a test now,i will be very accurate.
why don't you consult you're doctor for protection.
there's other thing then pill or ejection you know the
condom is not a good protection an counting you're
days only leads you to trouble, there also some
spermicide cream you can use with the condom.
and spotting after sex is usually not a good sign.
and it does'nt mean pregnency either...
take care

I would wait 'til you're at least a week or two weeks late even, For a urine test, However, If you want a blood test, I think they can tell as early as a few days past a missed period.
