I dont know how to tell you this but here it goes. I am the granddaughter of the dead. My grandmother actually came back alive during her funeral, trippy huh? So I consider my self the granddaughter of the dead or the generation of the dead since we were conceived after the incident. So I say perhaps both. Cool question

As long as you sense some part of your body, you are alive.
As for both together, cells are dying all the time. They are broken down and the reusable parts retained while the remainder is processed out of the body.

you are alive and go through all the movements that label you as living, but you are dead inside, you have no feeling and everything you do is an imitation of life.
