The maximum is usually five days, and only if you have optimal cervical mucus, which is eggwhite or watery. Sperm last longer in that fluid, which peaks shortly before ovulation. If you have recently menstruated, or are due to again soon, sperm probably won't last more than a day or two, if they make it past the hostile cervial fluid you have the rest of the month.
Here is more input and advice:
It is a fact that sperm can live up to 4-5 days in your body, contrary to anything else you may have heard or read. In addition to this fact, the egg released can live between 24-48 hours. Therefore, your fertile period starts approximately 4-5 days PRIOR to ovulation and ends 24-48 hours after ovulation. If you do the math, it is possible for some woman to be fertile for as many as 7 days. You may have heard you can only get pregnant one or two days a month...SO NOT TRUE!!! You may only ovulate that long, but with the life of sperm and the life of the egg, your fertile time can be much longer. Another bit of info that many woman don't know is that female sperm are slower but stronger and therefore live longer than male sperm which are faster, but weaker. In other words, male sperm will usually beat out female sperm in the race for the egg, yet female sperm will usually out live male sperm. So, if you are trying for a girl, have sex the 5th, 4th, and 3rd day before ovulation and then abstain. By the time you ovulate, most male sperm will have already died out and if there are any to fertilize the egg, they will most likely be female. If you desire a boy, wait until peak ovulation day and the days following and the odds of the male sperm beating out a female sperm and fertilizing an already waiting egg is very high.
From what I just read, approximately 3-7 days, depending on the acidity of the vagina.
Depends on when she is ovulating. If there is a lot of mucus (usually a lot more when she IS ovulating), it can last up to 5 days. If not, usually about a day or two.

3 days at the most.
However it very much depends on which stage of the month the woman is in as that effects the conditions within her body. At her most fertile - 14 days before her period is due - the sperm has better chance of survival & when conditions are less than optimum they will die out very quickly - male sperm dying out quicker than the slightly bigger & slower female sperm.
Women are said to have a 5 day window where they are most fertile because once her egg is released that can be viable for upto 48 hours before starting to break down.
This information is fantastic for those trying to concieve as it means they know when to have more sex - days 11 to 16 of a 28 day cycle. But as a form of birth control it doesnt work so well as we can never quite be sure when a woman has ovulated. Especially if that woman is very young, approacing the menopause, going through stress or recently been on birth control etc, as all of these things can affect her monthly cycle.
I hope this helps.

Well honey, it depends on a couple of things. IF the woman is ovulating then the cervix is producing a fluid that will help the sperm survive in the otherwise acid environment of the vagina. Once the sperm are traveling up into the uterus and further into the tubes they can live for 3-5 days.
Normally tho, in the usual acid environment of the vagina they do not live very long, about 30 minutes or so.
Good luck and I hope this helps.

An egg can survive in your Fallopian tube for about 24 hours after it's released from the ovary. So the only way you can get pregnant is if sperm are present in your Fallopian tube during this window of opportunity. If the egg isn't fertilized, it's shed along with your uterine lining during your period.
Typically, when you have your period, another egg is developing in preparation for release during the current cycle. But not every woman's cycle length is the same. Many women have a cycle that's about 28 days long, but some have only a 22-day cycle. If you have a shorter cycle, you could ovulate just a few days after you have your period. And considering that sperm can survive in your reproductive tract for up to three days, it's theoretically possible for the sperm to hang around until you ovulate again.

I would say 2 to 5 days. It really depends on the individual the sperm is coming from, how viable/strong they are, etc. Some men have weak sperm, while others have very strong sperm. Just a scientific fact.

2-3 days for sperm which determine a female and less than a day for those that determine a boy. The male sperm are however much stronger/swimmers
