cheating? there was no cheating at all. if you mean kenny rogers he no have pine tar he have dirt. umpire say so.everyone happy with that result. if you say cheat why larussa no make big deal. is it because he knows he play cheat too. me think so.

There were more things that beat the Yankees than pine tar chief. I like the Yanks too, and I am no Tiger fan. Pine tar is not going to make that big of a difference in the game. A small difference sure, but not a big one. The season is over, move on. Don't try and justify your feelings of loss and inadequacy on a little bit of pine tar.

Dude, please. Pine tar does nothing to help a pitcher. I pitched in college, and tried pine tar in cold weather and it actually makes you hold on to the ball too long on breaking pitches. If you're crying that you're beloved Yankees lost to the Tigers, cry about George's inability to "buy" good pitching. Until thje Yankees spend money on good, YOUNG, pitchers they will continue to falter in the playoffs...I mean Jaret Wright starting your most important game of the year??? The guy is horrible!!! Randy Johnson needs to retire, at 43 facing back surgery he won't be a top line starter. Wang is their best pitcher, Mussina should be moved to 3 or4 in the rotation so they seriously need to find a #2, #4 and Johnson can be #5 if he comes back. They spend all this money on all-star position players and what they end up with is a bunch of selfish players. Those Yankee teams that won World Series in the past were made of "team first" guys. They would all bunt when asked, would hit behind runners, shorten their swing and punch the ball through the infield to get a run in with 2 outs. This team doesn't bunt, doesn't hit behind runners and nobody sill shorten their swing and stop swinging for the fence just to drive a run in. Don't bad mouth those that beat you because your team is a mess. The Tigers beat the Yankees and the A's because they out-pitched and out-hit them, they lost to the Cardinals because they couldn't field the damn ball.......none of which has anything to do with pine tar!

If Kenny Rodgers was batting I say he cheated but pine tar does not help a pitcher. 1 hit with pine tar 17 straight batters down without pine tar., guess all that money again and no world series keep crying Yankee fans and grow up. no pitching no October series. booo hooo. don't see the A's crying do you

Sounds like whining to me. Hey, my team didn't make the world series either...but at least I accept that they got beat, rather than try to blame cheating...

You think Detroit cheated the series? You should go back to ESPN and read the box scores. Detroit lost.
You probably think that Shoeless Joe threw the series even though he played his best game ever.
You Yankee's fans can't ever just be proud of your team. Why do you always have to slam the other teams. Just be graceful in your loss, come back next year and try again.

pine tar is everywhere in baseball. on jerseys, mits, batting gloves, hands, bats.........get over it.
better question is.........is moises alou cheating when he pisses on his hands to strengthen his calluses?
