Simple...MONEY. They are the bankers for most of Europe and many other countries. If you're fighting a war, you need capital. SO you don't P.O. the banker. They are neutral because they are financing, usually, both sides in many conflicts.

I live there (here) and I don't see why you would feel any less or more safe elsewhere. It has the reputation maybe because it is a neutral country, but it has a brutal past as well. The Swiss soldiers are traditionally mercenaries, even today they still guard the Vatican. In many wars Swiss would fight Swiss as paid soldiers for opposing sides. Today, their military is still very strong and very big. Effectively, every male over 18 is a soldier in times of war, and they keep their weapon at home, so if you plan on taking them over, just remember that in each house there is probably at least one assault rifle. Maybe thats what you're thinking of.

All those guns stashed away in homes means it ISN'T as safe as all that. Every so often a Swiss picks up his assault rifle and wastes his family or goes outside and blows a few strangers away. There was a particularly nasty case of the latter in 2001 - I don't remember the details, but per head of population it ensures that Switzerland will be ahead of the U.S. in that sort of crime for many years.

Because a lot of very very very rich people have their money in Swiss banks and Swiss banks are very discreet about. Switzerland is one of the few countries in Europe to abstain from both world wars. Also I believe they have manditory partcipation in the armed forces which insures that they will always have a functional military. Mostly though because a lot of very powerful people are making sure that there money is safe there.

Nobody (including Hitler during WW II) messes with a country which has been neutral for 600 years and houses all the Rotschild banks. According to the latest news, the Swiss are trying to establish bilateral relationships with China - giving China another place to deposit hard currency earned from the United States.

Because they are officially "neutral" in the political sense. They do not get involved in wars. This sounds great right? But, sometimes by not taking sides, you DO.

Because majiuanna is legal and everyone is either stoned out of their gourdes, looking for food to alleviate their munchies drive, or wicked apathetic since they are stoned.
